Responsibilities
- Develop and improve Firefox features related to installation, updates, and operating-system integrations
- Enhance the Firefox installation and update experience using data insights
- Address low-level, platform-specific operating-system integration challenges on Windows and macOS
- Contribute to architectural discussions, technical discussions, and code reviews
- Scope and prioritize work with the manager and teammates
- Own complex bugs and lead improvements to the Firefox experience
- Collaborate with a geographically distributed team
Requirements
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience
- Systems-level programming experience on at least one major platform, including Windows or macOS
- Solid programming skills in C/C++
- Ability to work independently on scoped projects, break down technical work, and progress within project timelines
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, especially in distributed teams
- Rust programming experience is a bonus
- Low-level experience with Windows or macOS APIs such as Win32 or Cocoa is a bonus
- Linux or macOS internals experience is a bonus
- Open-source project contributions are a bonus
