Responsibilities
- Develop speech AI algorithms including speech enhancement, acoustic feedback cancellation, beamforming, and acoustic scene recognition from architecture exploration through verified features on shipping devices.
- Design, train, evaluate, and optimize deep learning models for real-time latency, MIPS, memory, and footprint constraints using techniques such as quantization and pruning.
- Build evaluation infrastructure with objective and perceptual metrics, audiology listening tests, and regression testing.
- Generate and curate noise corpora, room impulse responses, acoustic simulations, multi-microphone recordings, and binaural recordings.
- Contribute reusable training and testing infrastructure across audio and speech ML tasks.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, or a BSc with equivalent demonstrated depth.
- At least 5 years of experience building audio or speech ML algorithms.
- Experience carrying at least one algorithm from research into a shipped product.
- Hands-on production model development in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience deploying models to real-time or embedded targets under latency, memory, and compute constraints.
- Preferred experience with hearing-aid signal processing, hearables, or wearable audio products.
- Preferred understanding of transducers, microphones, audio ICs, acoustics, embedded DSPs, and NPUs.
- Preferred familiarity with quantization-aware training, pruning, knowledge distillation, and other model-compression methods.
- Preferred experience with GCP or equivalent cloud-based training environments and GPU cluster workflows.
- Preferred exposure to regulated or medical-device product development.
- Preferred publications or patents in speech, audio, or applied deep learning.
