Responsibilities

  • Develop systems and utilities for proprietary game engines.
  • Integrate rendering engines and implement architectural changes for new engine features.
  • Work on save data management, job systems, memory management, and development-support features.
  • Design, test, debug, document, and optimize maintainable code.
  • Own large and mission-critical areas of the codebase and complex features.
  • Estimate tasks, identify blockers, coordinate with other teams, and deliver features on time.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide architecture and implementation recommendations.
  • Mentor engineers in engine-development best practices.

Requirements

  • A university degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or relevant professional experience.
  • For Japan-based candidates, at least 3 years of professional software engineering experience and 2 years developing custom engines.
  • For overseas-based candidates, at least 7 years of professional software engineering experience and 5 years developing custom engines.
  • Strong C++ experience and proficiency in C# and WPF.
  • Experience with console development, including PlayStation or Microsoft platforms; familiarity with Nintendo, PC, or mobile platforms is useful.
  • Excellent debugging, optimization, performance-analysis, programming, architecture, and mathematical skills.
  • Experience with Git, SVN, or Perforce.
  • At least conversational Japanese proficiency at JLPT N3 or above and English proficiency for technical discussions.
  • Preferred experience includes Ruby, Python, Bash, PowerShell, Unreal, Unity, proprietary engines, at least three years in the video game industry, and at least one released game.

  • Legal support for visa applications; employees must reside in Japan during employment.
