Responsibilities
- Own a scoped security engineering project from exploring approaches through building, testing, documenting, and preparing the solution for team use.
- Develop tools and automation to identify security weaknesses, investigate findings, and prioritize risks.
- Conduct security research, analyze results, and distinguish actionable findings from false positives.
- Use and validate AI-assisted coding and research tools, including potentially building AI-assisted security capabilities or investigating AI-enabled systems.
- Collaborate with security and software engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and feedback.
- Demonstrate solutions, explain results and limitations, and document them for future maintenance.
Requirements
- Commit to a 12-week, full-time, 40-hour-per-week Summer 2027 program.
- Be currently enrolled full-time in a bachelor's or master's degree program, return to the program after the internship, and graduate by August 2028.
- Have strong programming skills, including writing, debugging, and testing code.
- Have a basic understanding of web applications, systems, and foundational security concepts.
- Have familiarity with AI and large language models through coursework, projects, research, or previous work.
- Be able to investigate problems, evaluate information, and communicate findings clearly.
- Demonstrate interest in security through coursework, projects, capture-the-flag challenges, research, or previous experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP, Semgrep, Snyk, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Git, APIs, automated testing, LLM APIs, coding assistants, CTFs, security research, open-source contributions, PortSwigger Web Security Academy, picoCTF, Hack The Box, CompTIA Security+, or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
- Optional application materials include a publicly shareable bug report, security write-up, or CTF walkthrough.
