Base Salary
$143k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, technical leads, and stakeholders to define requirements and improve solution quality.
- Lead architecture discussions, design proposals, and scalable technical decisions addressing security, compliance, performance, and future growth.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and integration paths across Microsoft engineering organizations.
- Write, review, and maintain high-quality software while mentoring engineers on coding practices.
- Lead debugging, telemetry analysis, validation, experimentation, and data-informed improvements.
- Drive project and release planning, milestones, estimation, and execution across teams.
- Serve as a directly responsible individual for incident response, playbooks, postmortems, and reducing incident volume.
- Improve engineering tools, automation, workflows, observability, reliability, cost efficiency, security, privacy, accessibility, and compliance.
- Act as a technical contact for partner teams and resolve conflicts across interdependent systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in languages including C, C++, C#, PowerShell, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience building and shipping production-grade software or services.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating large-scale, highly available services.
- Experience with postmortem analysis and authoring for live-site issues.
- Experience with build and validation systems for hardware, software, and cloud services.
