Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Microsoft, IHV, and OEM teams to debug reliability and stability issues across diverse hardware platforms.
- Develop Windows kernel and user-mode components for diagnostic and debugging capabilities.
- Prototype and evaluate hardware and software designs, bring up new SoCs and platforms, and validate hardware and firmware features.
- Analyze performance and debug issues across silicon, firmware, drivers, operating systems, and applications.
- Design infrastructure that integrates diagnostic data for Windows, IHV, and OEM teams.
- Develop automated validation frameworks, test infrastructure, and regression suites for pre-production and production hardware.
- Drive resolution of complex hardware and software issues across the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience involving coding, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with C/C++ design, coding, debugging, and testing.
- Understanding of SoC architecture, platform bring-up, boot flows, and system initialization.
- Experience with silicon validation, hardware debugging, and root cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and software layers.
- Knowledge of PCIe, NVMe, USB, I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, and power management.
- Understanding of operating system fundamentals including memory management, scheduling, interrupts, synchronization, and multithreaded programming.
- Experience developing, debugging, and optimizing device drivers in Windows or Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Plug and Play architecture, device enumeration, power management, and driver lifecycle management.
- Experience with kernel debugging, crash dump analysis, hardware debuggers, and JTAG-based bring-up and validation tools.
- Experience designing maintainable, modular, reusable, scalable software components.
- Experience developing automated validation frameworks, test infrastructure, and regression suites.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners across multiple product generations and architectures.
- Experience with software or product development, with 7+ years preferred.
- Experience working in Agile development environments and applying Scrum methodologies.
- Coding experience with C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python is required; communication and analytical troubleshooting skills are also expected.
Benefits
- Base pay is listed at USD $142,800–$274,800 per year across the U.S., with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $188,000–$304,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
