Responsibilities
- Extend Arm diagnostics technologies for Graphcore AI platforms and develop new diagnostics for emerging hardware capabilities.
- Develop system-level diagnostics and stress-testing software for CPUs, memory, interconnects, PCIe, storage, firmware, BMC, and other platform components.
- Build reusable validation utilities and libraries that integrate with existing validation frameworks.
- Develop tools to expose intermittent failures such as silent data corruption, timing issues, and hardware instability.
- Design configurable, parameterized diagnostics supporting multiple silicon revisions, platforms, execution environments, and workload variations.
- Automate diagnostic execution across server and rack-scale validation environments.
- Collaborate with hardware architects, firmware engineers, validation engineers, and diagnostics teams to improve hardware observability.
- Debug low-level interactions among hardware, firmware, operating systems, and device drivers.
- Analyze diagnostic output, improve fault isolation, and create software for reproducing difficult hardware failures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 12+ years of experience developing hardware diagnostics, system validation software, firmware validation tools, or low-level systems software.
- Strong software development skills in Python and C/C++.
- Strong Linux systems experience.
- Strong understanding of server platform architecture, including CPU, memory, PCIe, storage, networking, firmware, operating systems, and device drivers.
- Experience debugging hardware/software interactions across multiple platform layers.
- Experience developing diagnostics, stress-testing, or hardware validation software.
- Experience with server platforms, embedded systems, or SoC validation.
- Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience collaborating across hardware, firmware, software, and validation teams.
- Preferred experience includes Arm-based server platforms, AI accelerators, high-performance computing, silent data corruption testing, power transient analysis, fault injection, firmware validation, silicon bring-up, performance characterization, telemetry, observability, BMC firmware, server management, and RAS technologies.
- Preferred subsystem validation experience includes CPU scaling and cache behavior, DDR/HBM memory bandwidth and latency, NUMA effects, interconnect contention, PCIe and high-speed I/O validation, and multi-device scenarios.
