Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve Fortnite stability, performance, rendering, and device-compatibility issues across diverse PC hardware configurations.
  • Optimize CPU and GPU performance, shader pipelines, graphics APIs, and low-level systems including memory allocators, file systems, and input systems.
  • Monitor release stability and performance data and improve Unreal Engine systems for Fortnite-specific use cases.
  • Collaborate with GPU vendors, technical partners, and Epic engineering teams to resolve issues and improve graphics technologies.
  • Design and implement core engine systems and contribute to Fortnite’s desktop platform support.

Requirements

  • Strong C++ knowledge and multithreaded programming experience, with the ability to code and architect core engine systems.
  • Experience with real-time rendering in the games or computer graphics industry.
  • Knowledge of at least one graphics API, with DirectX 12 preferred, and a general understanding of modern graphics API architecture.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing a large codebase.
  • Ability to reason about and debug large interacting systems from macro-level to micro-level.
  • Experience with OS-level systems, Windows APIs, and common frameworks is a plus.
