Base Salary
$158k - $237k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain high availability, durability, performance, scalability, and disaster recovery for relational databases.
- Perform database upgrades while minimizing customer downtime.
- Manage backend systems including Kubernetes and MySQL.
- Drive reliability, availability, and efficiency improvements for the Polaris Cloud Platform.
- Write and review code, automate routine tasks, create documentation and capacity plans, and debug production issues.
- Build monitoring tools and automation for engineering teams.
- Participate in follow-the-sun on-call rotations and provide 24/7 coverage.
- Drive the FedRAMP certification process and support security, privacy, vulnerability remediation, and controlled-change activities.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, support personnel, Information Security, and other departments.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience designing and managing relational databases for performance, scalability, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Experience designing database architectures for large enterprise customers with high SLO and SLA requirements and operating databases for large-scale SaaS products.
- Experience with one or more of Go, Python, Java, Scala, or C++.
- Expertise troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems and optimizing code and automated processes.
- Strong operational experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and networking.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform or other public-cloud technologies.
- At least 1–3 years of experience as a Development, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineer, with willingness to provide 24/7 coverage.
- Strong documentation, communication, ownership, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience leading support personnel is required or relevant experience.
- Experience with databases and FedRAMP certification is strongly preferred.
