Base Salary
$180k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable, secure backend services and APIs for identity document capture, processing, and verification.
- Collaborate with Product, Data Science/Machine Learning, Infrastructure, frontend, and mobile teams to implement document verification features.
- Improve code quality, test coverage, performance, security, CI/CD practices, and deployment reliability.
- Own backend architecture decisions covering API design, microservice architecture, scalability, resilience, and secure data handling.
- Analyze production metrics and usage data to identify bottlenecks and improve performance, reliability, scalability, response times, and uptime.
- Integrate machine learning and computer vision components, including OCR results and face-match scores, into backend verification and decisioning workflows.
- Define API contracts with frontend and mobile teams, support client-side integrations, and debug integration issues.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and shipping modern backend services or distributed systems at scale.
- Advanced proficiency in backend programming languages such as Go, Java, or Scala, with experience building APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience developing gRPC and RESTful APIs and server-side business logic.
- Experience building scalable, high-availability microservices and APIs capable of handling large transaction volumes in cloud environments.
- Understanding of fault tolerance, low latency, performance optimization, database query optimization, and backend security for sensitive data.
- Ability to collaborate with frontend engineers, data scientists, infrastructure teams, product stakeholders, and other cross-functional partners.
- Experience with identity verification, fraud prevention, document verification, or related domains is preferred.
- Familiarity with computer vision, machine learning, OCR, face matching, or integrating ML models into backend services is preferred.
- Knowledge of AWS, with GCP experience preferred, and Docker or Kubernetes for service deployment is preferred.
- Familiarity with Kafka or Spark for streaming and high-volume data processing pipelines is preferred.
