Software Engineer III: Data Engineer

- Review controls and support protection of enterprise data.
- Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain secure, high-quality software solutions and data pipelines.
- Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure implementation meets design constraints.
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, visualize, and report on large and diverse datasets.
- Identify data patterns and hidden problems to improve coding hygiene, system architecture, and application performance.
- Update logical and physical data models for new use cases.
- Use SQL and understand appropriate applications of NoSQL databases.
- Apply software development lifecycle automation and enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools while validating generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Contribute to engineering communities of practice and guide peers on responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Advanced SQL skills, including joins and aggregations, and working knowledge of NoSQL databases.
- Experience with statistical data analysis, ETL processes, system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining AWS data pipelines using Python and PySpark, with Java as a secondary alternative.
- Experience with performance tuning, Unix scripting, data structures, data serialization formats, big-data storage formats, data processing approaches, and data modeling techniques.
- Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools and critically evaluating, validating, and refining their outputs.
- Understanding of responsible AI practices, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred experience includes Python, Kafka, S3, Lambda, ECS, EKS, Kinesis, CloudWatch, Terraform, Snowflake, GitHub Copilot, Airflow, and Kubernetes.
- Preferred experience supporting business insights through data analysis.
