Responsibilities
- Design and evolve federated GraphQL schemas and versioned server-driven UI contracts for iOS, Android, and web clients.
- Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPC endpoints, and SQL queries.
- Build fast, accessible front-end applications and shared libraries with React and TypeScript.
- Partner with product and design teams to architect and ship customer-facing features.
- Use observability tooling, DataDog monitoring, and alerting to diagnose issues and improve owned systems.
- Identify technical debt, production bottlenecks, performance risks, and scalability improvements.
- Participate in architecture, feature delivery, release cycles, on-call support, code review, pairing, and mentoring.
- Write thorough tests and work with QA to improve automated testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
- Use Claude Code in daily development.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, browser, UX, data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design knowledge.
- At least 2 years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for product surfaces used by iOS, Android, and web clients.
- Experience with production systems at scale, load testing, tracing, performance regression diagnosis, CPU hotspots, and high-throughput services.
- Experience with production-service on-call rotations and end-to-end release ownership.
- Experience developing APIs with Node, Bun, Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, or Laravel.
- Experience building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and per-brand configuration.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized services, terminal-based development, Git, and GitHub or similar tools.
- Experience with Jest or Vitest and ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
- Preferred experience includes Apollo Federation, Absinthe, iOS or Android development with Swift or Kotlin, hexagonal architecture, domain-driven design, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub, open source contributions, startup experience, and sports or esports interest.
