Base Salary
$120k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Shape technical direction for the Essentials squad, contribute to architecture decisions, and unblock teammates while remaining hands-on.
- Write maintainable code, conduct code reviews, pair program, and improve code quality through refactoring.
- Design and optimize backend systems, APIs, data flows, relational database schemas, and efficient SQL queries.
- Build responsive frontend experiences with React, TypeScript, and CSS.
- Lead projects from planning through delivery, including risk identification, estimation, scoping, and communicating trade-offs.
- Collaborate with product, design, and QA to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Use Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and other AI development tools while contributing to shared prompts and agentic workflows.
- Prototype LLM and automation applications for engineering and internal workflows with appropriate healthcare-data and billing safeguards.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical direction and tasks for both personal and team execution.
Requirements
- At least 7–10 years of full-stack development experience with Ruby on Rails as a core strength.
- Experience with React; 5 or more years is preferred.
- Experience leading projects end-to-end from problem decomposition through feature delivery.
- Experience mentoring engineers and guiding architectural decisions.
- Daily hands-on fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
- Experience or strong demonstrated interest in building with LLM APIs, including prompt design, evaluation, and sensitive-data safety considerations.
- Strong project management, planning, estimation, scoping, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work with minimal direction, manage multiple projects, create and execute technical direction, and collaborate effectively in a distributed environment.
