Base Salary
$220k - $405k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the compute, networking, and storage infrastructure supporting Perplexity’s consumer, Computer, API, and enterprise products.
- Operate and upgrade EKS clusters, including scheduling, autoscaling, node lifecycle, DNS, and service networking.
- Design and operate VPC architectures, Transit Gateway and PrivateLink connectivity, load balancing, DNS, and cross-account or cross-region egress.
- Manage EBS, S3, DynamoDB, managed databases, and caches for performance, durability, backups, and tested restores.
- Build reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure guardrails, and safe, reviewable, repeatable deployment workflows.
- Define SLOs, build actionable alerts, design for zone and regional failures, and conduct game days and disaster-recovery exercises.
- Lead production incident response, write blameless postmortems, and implement durable root-cause fixes.
- Own capacity planning, quotas, reservations, and infrastructure cost efficiency.
- Develop tooling and agent-driven automation for self-service provisioning, upgrades, and remediation.
Requirements
- Deep production AWS expertise, including VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, ELB, Route 53, S3, and EBS.
- Production Kubernetes experience at scale, including cluster upgrades, CNI, CoreDNS, autoscalers, and node debugging.
- Advanced Terraform experience designing modules, managing multi-account state, and completing large refactors and imports safely.
- Strong networking fundamentals across TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, and routing.
- Ability to write production automation, tooling, and controllers in Python, Go, or Rust.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana and translating telemetry into meaningful SLOs and alerts.
- Experience leading production incidents and converting root-cause analysis into durable improvements.
- End-to-end ownership and comfort operating independently in ambiguous situations.
- Preferred experience with multi-region active-active or failover architectures and disaster-recovery programs.
- Preferred experience with Envoy, Istio, Cilium, eBPF, Argo CD, Flux, enterprise or compliance environments, stateful production systems, multi-cloud operations, and FinOps.
