Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate vulnerabilities, threats, and risks across Halter’s systems.
- Research, define, and create threat models for application and infrastructure security.
- Define and evolve organization-wide security practices and standards while balancing risk reduction with developer velocity.
- Write and maintain code and tooling to resolve security issues across infrastructure and application layers.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership on security practices across engineering teams.
- Lead investigations and develop scalable solutions for complex security challenges.
- Improve security through design reviews, secure coding practices, testing, and architecture changes.
- Drive security incident response readiness, including detection, analysis, resolution, and follow-up prevention strategies.
- Define and maintain security incident response playbooks and automate response processes.
- Collaborate with third-party partners and vendors on audits, assessments, and security tools.
- Contribute to security education and awareness initiatives.
- Participate in a 24/7 security on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Deep experience with security practices and securely scaling systems to millions of end users.
- Hands-on technical expertise across mobile code, backend systems, infrastructure, and firmware.
- Ability to work effectively with large codebases and complex, evolving systems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, accountability, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards for 24/7 system reliability and availability.
- Motivation to work on meaningful problems in the agricultural technology domain.
