Responsibilities
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients, provide project updates, address technical concerns, and interface between clients and delivery teams.
- Lead software architecture across embedded firmware, edge compute, robotics middleware, connectivity, cloud services, autonomy, application logic, device management, and data services.
- Define system decomposition, subsystem interfaces, requirements, specifications, performance metrics, and fleet and data architecture.
- Establish OTA update, telemetry, remote diagnostics, observability, CI/CD, simulation-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, versioning, and staged rollout strategies.
- Plan and oversee system-level testing, validation, troubleshooting, integration, and performance verification across hardware and software boundaries.
- Partner with project managers to develop schedules, resource plans, budgets, estimates, and risk mitigation plans.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and mentor engineers while collaborating with hardware, electrical, mechanical, design, strategy, and delivery teams.
- Advise on conventional, model-based, and learned approaches for robotics systems, including considerations for safety certification and field reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience developing software for products that ship, including significant individual-contributor and subject-matter-expert experience.
- 3+ years of leadership experience in software architecture or system design for connected hardware, robotics, or embedded products.
- Demonstrated depth across embedded or edge software, robotics middleware, and cloud or backend services.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, with the ability to evaluate team designs and code.
- Experience with ROS or ROS 2 and autonomy-stack architecture, including perception, planning, and control interactions.
- Experience with connected-device and fleet architecture, OTA updates, telemetry pipelines, and remote diagnostics.
- Proficiency with Git workflows, containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, system architecture, integration, and validation.
- Experience delivering multiple large-scale industrial, enterprise, or consumer-facing products on schedule and budget.
- Strong client-facing communication, leadership, problem-solving, and technical tradeoff communication skills.
- Proficiency with industry-standard project management tools and methodologies.
- Preferred qualifications include consulting or agency experience, Product Management or Product Ownership experience, applied AI in robotics, simulation and sim-to-real workflows, real-time or deterministic systems, functional safety and regulatory frameworks, cloud and IoT services, NVIDIA Jetson, and long-term system serviceability.
