Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical controls interface for AMER sales engineering and customers on product applications.
  • Respond to pre-sales inquiries involving controls capabilities, communication protocols, BMS integration, and custom sequences.
  • Support bids and proposals with controls-specific technical content, Sequences of Operation documentation, and feasibility assessments.
  • Provide post-sales application support, commissioning guidance, configuration clarification, and field issue triage.
  • Generate engineer-to-order software variants and maintain related backlog visibility and delivery timelines.
  • Create and maintain customer- and project-specific Sequences of Operation documentation.
  • Translate recurring regional requirements into structured Kanban initiatives and distinguish one-off customizations from baseline features.
  • Prioritize and groom the AMER backlog, maintain traceability through validated releases, and participate in delivery planning.
  • Coordinate with global application, product management, service, quality, regulatory, and regional engineering teams.
  • Support CRA compliance activities for AMER-manufactured units destined for the EU market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in HVAC controls application engineering, preferably in precision cooling or data center environments.
  • Experience generating engineer-to-order configurations or custom application variants for thermal or HVAC products.
  • Proficiency in structured text under IEC 61131-3 and/or C/C++.
  • Familiarity with BMS protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and SNMP and with system integration.
  • Ability to create clear, customer-facing Sequences of Operation documentation.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to explain technical controls concepts to non-controls audiences.
  • US work authorization is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include engineering-context Kanban or Agile experience, precision air conditioning and data center thermal management knowledge, Vertiv controller platform experience, sales engineering support experience, familiarity with UL, ASHRAE, and NIST frameworks, and experience in a global matrixed engineering organization.
