Responsibilities
- Write maintainable code for Fabric Materialized Lake View services and HDInsight components using C#, Java, Scala, or Python.
- Design data refresh, scheduling, and query optimization features and begin owning the architecture of Fabric data engineering components.
- Review teammates’ code, assess correctness and security risks, and coach engineers through code reviews.
- Debug distributed systems on Azure, Linux, and Windows using debugging tools, logs, and telemetry.
- Participate in rotational on-call operations, diagnose production issues, conduct incident retrospectives, and prevent recurrence.
- Build logging, instrumentation, metrics, dashboards, and alerts for system health, performance, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with product managers and partners to define customer requirements and address security and privacy needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience with one or more of Apache Spark, Kafka, Spark SQL, PySpark, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred experience with Azure Storage, Compute, Networking, Fabric, Purview, Synapse, AKS, DevOps, Data Factory, or Power BI.
- Preferred experience with Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, HBase, data lakes, data engineering products, tools, or pipelines.
- Preferred familiarity with container-based architectures such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Preferred ability to debug complex distributed systems on Linux and/or Windows platforms.
