Responsibilities

  • Build AI agents, tools, and data connectors in Python using APIs and SQL to access business systems.
  • Design multi-step agent workflows in LangGraph or a comparable framework with human approval controls.
  • Choose between database queries, API calls, and document search for information retrieval.
  • Build evaluation sets, measure answer quality, and improve AI assistant performance.
  • Ship small increments weekly and demonstrate work to technical teams and business users.
  • Use AI coding assistants transparently and explain every committed line of code.
  • Document implementations and learnings for future users and maintainers.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a master's program or in the third or fourth year of a bachelor's program in computer science, mathematics, data science, or industrial engineering in the United States; master's students are preferred.
  • Available to continue part-time and remotely for approximately six months after the summer while studying.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite during the summer.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Demonstrated Python project that others can run, using Git and tests, with a link included in the application.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, including model APIs, tool calling, and structured outputs.
  • Experience with SQL joins across multiple tables and a working understanding of REST APIs and JSON.
  • Preferred experience includes LangGraph or another agent framework, embeddings, vector search, RAG, MCP, knowledge graphs such as Neo4j, a cloud platform, or supply chain, manufacturing, or ERP concepts.

  • Onsite/hybrid work model in Cary, NC during the summer.
  • Option to continue part-time remotely for about six months after the summer alongside studies.
  • Internships in the United States are not eligible for company-sponsored medical benefits, 401(k) contributions, or paid time off.
  • Hourly pay is listed at $20-$34 per hour.
  • Internship provides practical project experience, mentorship through directed work, and opportunities to develop skills and employment prospects.
