Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Investigate field-reported anomalies across autonomous vehicle subsystems and identify the layer where the issue actually originates.
  • Reproduce failures using recorded sensor or mission data, live pipelines, visualization tooling, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Use service metrics, dashboards, and centralized logs to reconstruct system state and diagnose root causes.
  • Implement tested fixes in the relevant subsystem language and ship them through CI and standard versioned rollouts.
  • Distinguish software bugs from configuration and deployment mismatches and resolve issues at the appropriate layer.
  • Document root causes and fixes, identify recurring subsystem failures and missing tests, and help build the team’s on-call and triage runbook.
  • Escalate issues requiring changes from subsystem-owning teams rather than patching symptoms.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience debugging unfamiliar code under time pressure and with incomplete information.
  • Working familiarity with at least two of Rust, modern C++, Python, and Go.
  • Systems-debugging experience using logs, metrics, and offline reproduction from recorded data.
  • Practical experience with observability tooling in the Prometheus/Grafana and Loki/ELK classes.
  • Linux and systems fluency; experience with declarative or immutable operating systems such as NixOS is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate root causes and fixes clearly in writing.
  • Willingness to work close to hardware and sensors without requiring prior maritime or robotics experience.
  • Willingness to travel 25% or more on average.
  • Robotics middleware, sensor-driver, or real-time data-pipeline experience is preferred.
  • Simulation-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop experience is preferred.
  • Embedded or fleet-software CI/CD and versioned-deployment experience is preferred.
  • On-call or field-support experience for hardware deployed to users is preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to full-time employees.
  • The role requires an average of 25% or more travel.
  • Full-time offers may include equity grants, which are part of the total compensation package.
