Responsibilities
- Shape the technical direction of the developer platform, including CI/CD, build systems, and AI agents.
- Design and build AI agents for coding, code review, test generation, release automation, and incident response.
- Scale developer tooling with the engineering organization while maintaining reliability and developer satisfaction.
- Standardize tools and practices across engineering teams.
- Raise technical quality through code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship.
- Partner with engineering leadership on technical priorities and tradeoffs.
- Represent Samsara through talks, open source, and other external activities when appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years building software, including at least 2 years in an architect or technical leadership role.
- 4+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
- 4+ years leading technical projects across multiple teams.
- Strong programming and software design fundamentals.
- Preferred experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, or CI/CD for a large engineering organization.
- Preferred experience shipping AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or custom agents.
- Strong skills in Go, Python, TypeScript, or a similar language.
- Track record of measurably improving engineering productivity through faster builds, easier deployments, reduced toil, or improved developer experience.
- Ability to work through ambiguity and align teams without formal authority.
