Base Salary
$110k - $182k/yr
Responsibilities
- Conduct R&D in quantum technology for nuclear physics applications.
- Write and test code applying quantum algorithms to nuclear physics problems.
- Collaborate with external quantum computing users, experimental physicists, and software engineers.
- Contribute to government and commercial nuclear proposals.
- Publish research findings and present at scientific conferences.
- Provide guidance and support to team members.
- Stay current with developments in quantum algorithms and nuclear physics.
Requirements
- A BS or MS in computer science, physics, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- High programming proficiency is required, with Python preferred; C, C++, or Julia experience is also accepted with the ability to learn Python quickly.
- General familiarity with nuclear physics and specific experience in a subfield such as QCD, EFT, or many-body physics are required.
- Experience using quantum algorithms for physical science applications and nuclear physics is required.
- Familiarity with AI, including machine learning, LLMs, and agentic AI, is required.
- Experience with open-source quantum frameworks such as Cirq or Qiskit is required; modifying these libraries is preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include a PhD and familiarity with quantum error correction, fault tolerance, gate decomposition, qubit mapping, routing, and variational quantum algorithms.
- Preferred experience includes Stim, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, GCP, AWS, GitHub, React, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and PyQt.
- Professional communication, collaboration, problem-solving, learning ability, and productization experience are required.
- Ability to work in the office three days per week and travel domestically and potentially internationally up to 10% is required.
