Responsibilities

Act as a liaison between Security and Engineering to develop requirements and direction for the security roadmap.
Research, design, implement, and own security-oriented frameworks and features that protect Okta customers.
Evangelize security best practices and participate in cross-vertical security-focused code reviews.
Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and threat vectors across applications and infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and fix production issues involving reliability, security, and performance.
Prototype and contribute iteratively to security initiatives on a weekly release cadence.
Coach and mentor junior engineers.

8+ years of experience designing and implementing highly reliable software systems in Java.
3+ years of experience designing and implementing security solutions for applications and distributed systems.
Experience mitigating OWASP Top 10 attacks and expertise in Application Security, Cryptography, Authentication, and Role-Based and Attribute-Based access controls.
Strong understanding of secure code reviews, Secure SDLC, test-driven development, and threat and vulnerability mitigation.
Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS and GCP.
Experience with RDBMS such as MySQL, including replication and clustering, and familiarity with Redis and Elasticsearch.
Ability to develop technical documentation including cookbooks, design documents, and architecture documents.
Strong software engineering principles and written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
