Base Salary
$20k - $290k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long horizon and connect it to critical business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that multiply team effectiveness.
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call practices.
- Establish code review and design standards and promote engineering quality through writing and technical talks.
- Develop engineering talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
Requirements
- Have 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Have an extensive track record developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Have experience developing consumer experiences with UI frameworks such as React.
- Have 2+ years of experience working in search or related recommendation engines.
- Have experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Write high-quality, understandable code and demonstrate strong technical, communication, collaboration, and feedback skills.
- Have equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
