Responsibilities
- Own platform-wide architecture across backend services and infrastructure.
- Lead technical scoping and design for cross-cutting initiatives, including EHR integrations, multi-tenancy, and scaling.
- Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and operational excellence across services.
- Design and deliver high-impact system redesigns and architectural improvements.
- Develop engineering standards, best practices, and internal developer tooling.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and scope architectural work for other engineers.
- Partner with product, engineering leadership, clinical stakeholders, and operators to shape the technical roadmap.
- Audit bottlenecks and reliability risks and deliver meaningful architectural fixes during the initial 90 days.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including principal-level impact in at least one prior role.
- Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
- Strong backend engineering background with the ability to work across the full stack.
- Excellent architectural judgment and ability to translate complex real-world problems into clear technical designs.
- Experience owning systems end-to-end from design through production operations.
- Healthcare, EHR integration, or compliance-heavy environment experience is a significant plus.
- Experience with health technology, EHR systems, HIPAA-compliant healthcare data, multi-tenant SaaS platforms, or clinical rules and decision-support systems is preferred.
- Public speaking or technical writing experience is preferred.
