Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android-focused client-side applications for an instant messaging platform
- Build real-time chat, group chat, media messaging, message synchronization, offline messaging, and push notification features
- Contribute to client-side architecture and consistent user experiences across Android, iOS, and Web
- Use AI-powered tools to read, debug, and modify iOS and Web codebases while supporting cross-stack frontend development
- Integrate APIs and WebSocket, MQTT, and gRPC real-time communication protocols
- Implement local storage, offline-first behavior, message state management, and cross-platform synchronization logic
- Optimize startup speed, memory usage, battery consumption, network efficiency, and UI responsiveness
- Collaborate with backend teams on API design, integration, and production issue investigation
- At the senior level, mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical design decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Engineer track requires 1–3+ years of experience; Senior Engineer track requires 3–5+ years
- Production Android development experience with Kotlin and/or Java
- Understanding of Android SDK, Jetpack components, asynchronous programming, and modern client-side architecture
- Ability to use Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar AI-powered development tools for cross-stack frontend development
- Ability to read, understand, debug, and modify iOS or Web codebases with AI tool support
- Familiarity with WebSocket, MQTT, gRPC, or similar real-time communication protocols
- Understanding of message delivery, read status, synchronization, local persistence, offline support, and push notifications
- Understanding of client-side performance optimization, memory management, multithreading, and security best practices
- Familiarity with Git, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
- Preferred experience with IM products or communication platforms
- Preferred iOS development experience with Swift, SwiftUI, or Objective-C
- Preferred Web frontend experience with TypeScript, React, Vue, or Next.js
- Preferred cross-platform client or mobile full-stack development experience
- Preferred experience with end-to-end encryption, message security, cryptographic protocols, voice/video calling, RTC technologies, large-scale distributed messaging infrastructure, fintech, payments, or Web3 applications
- Open-source contributions or published apps on Google Play or the App Store are preferred
