Responsibilities
- Build, operate, and maintain the global network footprint of Fastly’s Edge Cloud Platform.
- Respond to significant traffic incidents and lead network incident resolution.
- Write performant, maintainable, and clear code while contributing to code reviews.
- Develop and iterate tools and automation systems for network operations.
- Innovate methods for monitoring network performance focused on end-user experience.
- Analyze performance-based analytics and collaborate with partner teams.
- Advocate for network operational stability and partner with engineering teams.
- Mentor team members on global routing complexities.
Requirements
- Experience with TCP/IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS protocols.
- Proficiency in automation and coding using languages like Python.
- Knowledge of Tier 1 Internet service providers and cloud providers.
- Ability to analyze internet traffic patterns using flow-based tools.
- Experience with monitoring and visibility tools like Graphite/Grafana.
- Familiarity with cloud hosting solutions such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and network optimization.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to share knowledge.
- Collaboration skills to shape technical roadmaps with cross-functional teams.
