Responsibilities

  • Review software specifications, architecture, and design documents and clarify requirements with stakeholders.
  • Develop component designs and embedded software components using C++ and Linux.
  • Analyze existing embedded software to add features, modify functionality, fix bugs, and port software to other platforms.
  • Perform functional, unit, and system testing, participate in code reviews and design reviews, and verify fixes.
  • Debug software using gdb, conduct root-cause analysis, and assess risks associated with critical fixes.
  • Break down complex tasks, identify performance or product issues, improve KPIs, and propose technical solutions.
  • Coordinate software development activities with the Software Engineering Manager, internal HARMAN teams, and customers.
  • Communicate with customers and other teams to define requirements and resolve issues, including occasional travel for training or coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another relevant IT-connected specialization.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience with C/C++ knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Embedded Linux architecture and experience developing embedded applications.
  • Knowledge of inter-process communication, threading, and socket communication.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Extended knowledge of software development processes.
  • Preferred knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, VLANs, automotive systems, Unified Modeling Language, and Linux kernel development.
  • Preferred knowledge of embedded Linux power management, logging with DLT, and SPI, I2C, and UART communication protocols.
  • Willingness to travel 0–20% of the time depending on project needs.
