Responsibilities
- Design and implement customer-facing Rust backend services powering trading, payments, and crypto experiences.
- Own features end to end from problem definition and implementation through launch and evaluation of user impact.
- Collaborate with product teams to understand customer requirements and integrate with Kraken’s trading infrastructure.
- Propose improvements and autonomously translate evolving product requirements into resilient solutions.
- Use AI to accelerate coding, understand unfamiliar codebases, cross technical boundaries, and validate implementations.
- Work across backend and frontend boundaries while maintaining a product-led engineering focus.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Rust backend engineering, network services, asynchronous code, and distributed systems design.
- Experience with RPC protocols, Kafka, and event-driven architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to ship customer-facing product features from problem definition through launch and user impact.
- An AI-first development workflow with meaningful use of AI for coding, codebase understanding, implementation validation, and technical problem solving.
- Ability to debug autonomously across the operating system, network, and application layers.
- Full-stack experience including React, TypeScript, or other frontend frameworks is preferred.
- Cryptocurrency or blockchain domain knowledge is preferred.
- Experience building products at consumer-focused technology companies is preferred.
