Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, document, and release locomotive embedded software while meeting quality specifications.
- Resolve software issues from testing, production, and field environments through root-cause analysis and corrective solutions.
- Perform software design and code reviews according to applicable standards and guidelines.
- Follow configuration management, software requirements, change management, defect tracking, build, and release processes.
- Collaborate with systems engineering, product management, simulation, verification, validation, and electronic hardware teams.
- Mentor junior team members and work with program technical leads to execute project plans and deliver quality results.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least three years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with at least five years of relevant experience in software development.
- Hands-on experience with C and C++ programming or a similar language, plus Python and shell scripting.
- Design and development experience with at least one embedded real-time software system, such as Linux, QNX, RTOS, MQX, or Greenhills.
- Experience with at least one of the following processors: Xilinx, ARM, PPC, Intel, or K60.
- Experience with low-level hardware interfaces, including FPGAs and device drivers.
- Exposure to Serial, Arcnet, and Ethernet-based communications standards.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to articulate clearly and concisely.
- Self-driven, quick-learning, collaborative, results-oriented, and focused on high quality.
- Some knowledge of Matlab or Simulink is desired.
- Ability to break down problems and estimate development task timelines is desired.
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies is desired.
- Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness in solving problems and delivering results is desired.
