Responsibilities
- Proactively identify system deficiencies, prioritize backlogs, and resolve issues before they affect users.
- Maintain system stability, accessibility, configuration, observability, and performance across assigned enterprise systems.
- Manage Linux, Red Hat, VMware Cloud Foundations, VMware infrastructure, VMware NSX, Kubernetes, networking devices, IPS/IDS devices, and related platforms.
- Create, test, debug, deploy, and maintain scripts and infrastructure automation using Ansible or similar tools.
- Establish and maintain configuration management processes, automated baseline checks, Git repositories, version control, and backups.
- Coordinate controlled production changes with development engineering teams and review changes affecting development and testing.
- Document issues in Jira, audit and report system and performance logs, and present system-wide performance information.
- Collaborate with vendors, users, customers, developers, and testers; train and mentor others on related design and administrative tasks.
- Follow corporate and government procedures, DoD Risk Management Framework guidance, NIST practices, and applicable security guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or another technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Security+ certification is required or must be completed within six months of hire.
- Ten years of work experience is preferred; additional degrees may be considered with accompanying technical leadership experience.
- Experience understanding complex enterprise IT architectures and prioritizing team focus areas.
- Comfort with Linux system management and Red Hat enterprise services.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundations, VMware hypervisor and management services, VMware NSX-based SDN, Kubernetes, and microservice-based applications.
- Ability to author and maintain scripts and automation in a managed Git repository, including Ansible or similar infrastructure automation.
- Ability to solve technical problems across integrated software and hardware platforms and respond effectively to service requests.
- Knowledge of or experience with the DoD Risk Management Framework, NIST, or similar security practices and guidelines.
- U.S. citizenship and a Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain TS/SCI, are required under the government contract.
- Strong prioritization, communication, interpersonal, research, documentation, and collaboration skills.
