Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and support scalable Java backend services for data acquisition, processing, matching, analytics, and integration.
- Build and maintain applications using Java RMI for communication between services.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and collaborate with QA to meet engineering standards and the Definition of Done.
- Investigate production issues and performance bottlenecks while improving resilience, monitoring, and operational reliability.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, design reviews, and peer reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications in Java, with excellent knowledge of Java 17+, Maven, JUnit, and automated testing approaches.
- Hands-on Java RMI experience is essential.
- Proven performance optimisation and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control workflows, and Azure DevOps or similar lifecycle tooling.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, clean code, maintainable design, analytical problem-solving, collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
