Responsibilities
- Refine mission and functional descriptions, software architecture, algorithm designs, and functional and non-functional requirements.
- Design, code, debug, test, and review low- to medium-complexity software components.
- Develop test procedures and execute software verification and validation activities.
- Produce and execute integration tests in simulated environments and on target hardware test benches.
- Perform supervised impact analyses for software changes affecting multiple components.
- Investigate software defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct engineering testing in simulation environments and support investigations of field-reported issues.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering teams to maintain system-software consistency and compliance with software architecture and safety-critical development processes.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in software development or engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Foundational engineering analysis and troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing issues using logs and correlating events to failures.
- Ability to work on small- to medium-scale software applications within established engineering guidelines.
- Knowledge of software development processes and lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience with software development environments and tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, desktop simulators, and target simulators.
- Basic knowledge of railway signaling systems, including SelTrac CBTC.
- Experience with source control, IDE, and requirements management tools such as Git, Jira, Eclipse, ClearCase, ClearQuest, and DOORS.
- Experience working in Agile development environments and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer designation, embedded C and C++ development, Python, Perl, or Ruby scripting, modelling and simulation, Windows, Linux, and Unix development, control theory, and graph theory.
