Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for OpenSearch clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues affecting availability and performance.
- Perform cluster upgrades, migrations, maintenance, scaling, and other lifecycle operations.
- Participate in L2 on-call rotations and respond to incidents.
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to diagnose and resolve OpenSearch and related technology issues.
- Develop automation tools, scripts, and operational processes to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Analyze system behavior and identify performance and reliability improvements.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Hands-on OpenSearch experience, including troubleshooting, upgrades, and migrations, or strong willingness to develop deep expertise.
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong Linux system administration skills and comfort with command-line environments.
- Understanding of distributed systems, networking, and operating system internals.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Strong production debugging and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, work in a fast-paced environment, and take ownership.
- Preferred experience with Cassandra, Kafka, source-code debugging, Jira, Python, Java, Bash, Git, customer support, or technical operations roles.
- Typically requires 4–8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, 6 years with a master’s degree, 3 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
