Base Salary

$185k - $185k/yr

Responsibilities

Own architecture for Steven.com’s most complex systems from design through production and long-term evolution.
Set engineering standards, patterns, and abstractions for the broader engineering team.
Architect AI-native systems including LLM-powered workflows, intelligent pipelines, and agentic systems.
Make final calls on high-stakes design decisions and identify systemic risk before it becomes technical debt or downtime.
Mentor senior and junior engineers through code review and architectural discussions.
Turn ambiguous product bets into concrete technical plans with clear tradeoffs while partnering with executive engineering and product leaders.

Demonstrated experience designing and shipping complex, large-scale distributed systems in production.
Deep full-stack proficiency with TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, and Google Cloud or AWS.
Production-scale experience architecting AI/ML systems, LLM applications, or intelligent pipelines.
Ability to reason across API design, infrastructure, and product-level abstractions.
Strong written communication and documentation skills.
Experience as a founding engineer, staff engineer, or technical lead at a startup or high-growth company is an ideal background.
A computer science or machine learning research background with production research experience is an ideal background.
Published research, open-source work, conference talks, or other visible engineering community contributions are valued.

Founding team role with significant influence over Steven.com’s product and technical direction.
