Base Salary
$160k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and operate RDF triplestore database internals, including graph storage, indexing, query processing, transactions, replication, scalability, and reliability.
- Make billions of RDF statements efficiently queryable with enterprise-grade performance, correctness, availability, and reliability.
- Implement or optimize query planning, execution, statistics and cardinality estimation, caching, memory management, disk I/O, recovery, and high-availability capabilities.
- Diagnose database performance bottlenecks at large scale and contribute to or modify open-source database engines.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience developing database or graph database internals rather than solely building applications on top of databases.
- Experience developing RDF triplestore, labeled property graph, or closely related graph database infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of database implementation areas including storage engines, indexing, physical data representation, query optimization, transactions, concurrency, isolation, cardinality estimation, caching, memory management, disk I/O, replication, recovery, or high availability.
- Strong software engineering skills in Java or another systems-oriented programming language.
- Preferred experience with Eclipse RDF4J, Apache Jena, labeled property graph internals, graph query engines, SPARQL, Cypher, Gremlin, RDF or graph storage layouts, open-source database engines, LMDB, RocksDB, RDF, SHACL, inference, Semantic Web standards, and large-scale database performance diagnosis.
