Base Salary

$174k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Administer and automate AWS-based HPC environments, including clusters, operating systems, software stacks, containers, user provisioning, and system security.
  • Support computer-aided engineering and computational science workflows by improving HPC robustness, performance, and availability across instance types and regions.
  • Scale computational capacity on AWS to accelerate quantum hardware design and simulation.
  • Design reproducible development environments and manage dependencies, builds, releases, and artifacts across research software projects.
  • Develop CI/CD pipelines and automate provisioning with infrastructure-as-code.
  • Implement observability and monitoring to support debugging, reliability, and high uptime.
  • Translate scientific and software requirements into design proposals, drive implementation, and coordinate platform rollouts with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement.
  • Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes.
  • Preferred experience with distributed systems at scale and network fundamentals including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and HTTP.
  • Preferred experience with Kubernetes, Docker or the containers ecosystem, or Ubuntu/Solaris.
  • Preferred experience with AWS services including VPC, EC2, EBS, S3, SQS, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
  • Preferred experience working with scientists in a research environment and with HPC infrastructure.
  • Strong engineering judgment, problem-solving, communication, ownership, and teamwork skills.
