Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and direction to business and technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Design, develop, debug, and troubleshoot software using Java, Python, and Node.js in distributed AWS and Kubernetes environments.
  • Write, review, and maintain secure, high-quality production code and contribute to peer code reviews.
  • Consider upstream and downstream technical implications when designing and operating software.
  • Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, testing, release readiness, and incident analysis.
  • Establish validation standards for secure coding, peer review, automated testing, and AI-generated outputs.
  • Influence product design, application functionality, technical operations, and engineering processes.
  • Serve as a function-wide subject matter expert and advocate for firmwide software development lifecycle frameworks, tools, and practices.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, deployment, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in Java or Python and experience with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation, including critically evaluating AI-generated outputs.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker in AWS cloud environments.
  • Ability to lead team practices for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security and coach senior engineers or leads on compliant usage.
  • Ability to solve design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Preferred experience with Node.js, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AI/ML frameworks, large-scale data pipelines, event-driven architectures, financial services or regulated-industry software, and cloud-native development.
