Base Salary
$128k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in production database troubleshooting, ServiceNow instance performance, and Linux performance analysis across on-premises and hyperscaler environments.
- Own complex incident root-cause analyses across multi-tenant PostgreSQL and MariaDB fleets at scale.
- Develop observability and automation to prevent recurrence of critical production issues.
- Influence infrastructure decisions for the multi-tenant cloud platform.
- Mentor and collaborate with engineers across operations, support, and development.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Five years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, three years with a master’s degree, a PhD without experience, or equivalent work experience.
- At least five years of experience supporting or testing large-scale web-based distributed applications.
- At least five years of experience with multiple relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on knowledge of MVCC, transaction management, vacuum mechanics, database and query performance tuning, buffer management, WAL architecture, and backup/restore.
- At least five years of hands-on experience with a SaaS, PaaS, or cloud infrastructure product or solution.
- Unix skills including development, navigation, file manipulation, permissions, searching files and text, and administrative actions.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new technologies.
- Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
- Preferred experience with the ServiceNow platform, scripting, tuning, troubleshooting, schemas, tablespaces, indexing, and database performance optimization.
- Preferred skills include shell scripting, Python, JavaScript, Ansible, CentOS or Red Hat, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipeline experience.

- Base pay is $127,600–$216,900, plus equity when applicable and variable or incentive compensation.
