Base Salary
$182k - $242k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the API Gateway and Kubernetes Gateway API stacks and their CRDs, including routing, TLS/mTLS, rate limiting, and observability.
- Lead large-scale infrastructure migrations across every zone with consistent audit-log behavior and no customer-visible regression.
- Manage networking and traffic at scale through L4/L7 proxying, load balancing, global routing, live failover, encrypted transport, and performance tuning.
- Set technical direction and engineering standards for the gateway stack.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, lead post-mortems, and serve as a bridge across engineering teams and leadership.
- Design and operate gateways that front CoreWeave’s control plane and Kubernetes service clusters.
Requirements
- Production experience writing Go.
- Deep experience with networking and traffic infrastructure, including L4/L7 load balancing, reverse proxies such as Envoy, HAProxy, or NGINX, or API gateways.
- Deep Kubernetes experience, ideally with Gateway API or Ingress, operators and controllers, and multi-cluster environments.
- Strong grounding in TLS/mTLS, edge and authentication concerns, and performance tuning of network-facing services.
- Track record of setting technical direction and leading initiatives across teams.
- Clear communication of technical contributions and effective cross-team collaboration.
- Preferred: experience leading a large-scale infrastructure migration end to end.
- Preferred: experience operating a high-traffic edge or gateway as a production choke point, including monitoring, runbooks, and incident response.
- Preferred: experience with certificate issuance and rotation, such as through Vault, and with multi-zone or federated control planes.
