Responsibilities
- Own the double-entry accounting ledger, including its accounting model, invariants, and correctness guarantees.
- Design and lead licensing systems for pay-as-you-go metering, billing, fixed-term commitments, and enterprise packaging.
- Build reconciliation, auditability, immutability, lineage, and controls for daily financial close and auditor tracing.
- Translate revenue-recognition policies such as ASC 606, deferred revenue, contract modifications, and true-ups into precise system behavior.
- Lead features end-to-end through design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and mentorship.
- Set technical direction across teams and shape shared architecture for critical financial systems.
- Drive observability, SLOs, low pager noise, and blameless incident learning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building backend services with strong correctness, consistency, and durability guarantees at scale.
- Deep experience with financial or transactional systems such as ledgers, double-entry accounting, billing, payments, or revenue recognition.
- Understanding of idempotency, exactly-once semantics, immutability, and reconciliation.
- Fluency in Python or Go; interviews will be conducted in one of those languages.
- Experience partnering with Finance, Accounting, or other non-engineering stakeholders to translate policy and ambiguity into dependable systems.
- Ability to set technical direction across teams, shape shared architecture, and raise engineering standards at the Staff level.
- Preferred experience preparing financial systems for SOX or external financial audits.
