Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend microservices and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build Kafka producers, consumers, and Kafka Streams processing for event routing, filtering, enrichment, deduplication, correlation, and transformation.
- Implement resilient service behavior including idempotency, retry logic, dead-letter queues, error handling, correlation IDs, and transaction-safe processing.
- Integrate services with PostgreSQL, Guidewire, ServiceNow, API gateways, and other operational systems.
- Containerize services with Docker and deploy them on AWS EKS or ECS.
- Implement health checks, metrics, logs, traces, autoscaling, rolling deployments, and rollback patterns.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on Terraform, Helm, and GitHub Actions pipelines.
- Provide technical leadership, make team decisions, establish best practices, and mentor junior engineers.
- Support production debugging, performance tuning, monitoring, and incident-related workflows.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience with Spring Boot is required.
- Minimum 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and backend microservices.
- Experience with Apache Kafka producers and consumers, Kafka Streams, topics, partitions, offsets, consumer groups, retries, and dead-letter queues.
- Experience deploying containerized services on AWS EKS or ECS and integrating with PostgreSQL.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions, and with Docker containerization.
- Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, logging, monitoring, error handling, debugging, performance tuning, and production support.
- Experience with AWS Elastic Beanstalk is preferred.
- Experience with Amazon MSK, AWS Glue Schema Registry, Kong or AWS API Gateway, Terraform, Helm, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and Grafana is preferred.
- Experience with ServiceNow APIs, Guidewire APIs or Guidewire Cloud, Veracode, SAST/DAST pipelines, and agent orchestration or AI-driven incident triage workflows is preferred.
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert, collaborate across teams, make technical decisions, lead best-practice efforts, and mentor junior team members.
