Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for automotive telemetry gateways and intelligent battery sensors.
  • Develop bare-metal C/C++ firmware for ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers and real-time applications using Zephyr RTOS and FreeRTOS.
  • Create board support packages, boot code, peripheral drivers, hardware-abstraction layers, linker/startup code, and low-level hardware interfaces.
  • Build and maintain custom embedded Linux distributions with the Yocto Project, including BitBake recipes, layers, kernel and bootloader integration, device trees, images, and update strategies.
  • Develop Linux userspace services and LTE-connected applications for automotive gateways.
  • Design coordination between Linux, RTOS, and NPU domains using RPMsg, OpenAMP, shared memory, IPC, and vendor frameworks.
  • Integrate and optimize machine-learning inference workloads on NPUs and other edge accelerators.
  • Develop telemetry acquisition, processing, storage, secure cloud communication, diagnostics, logging, watchdog, recovery, and over-the-air update capabilities.
  • Develop intelligent battery-sensor firmware and support SOC/SOH estimation using battery-monitoring measurements and algorithms.
  • Integrate LTE modems, GNSS receivers, sensors, vehicle networks, and gateway peripherals.
  • Analyze performance, memory, timing, power, and communications reliability, and debug hardware, firmware, operating-system, and multicore issues.
  • Produce requirements, architecture, interface, design, and verification documentation; conduct reviews and mentor embedded developers.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, cloud, data science, cybersecurity, validation, manufacturing, and product teams through prototype, vehicle testing, launch, and field resolution.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of professional embedded software development experience.
  • Expert-level embedded C and C++ proficiency.
  • Strong bare-metal ARM Cortex-M firmware experience and production experience with an embedded RTOS, preferably Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
  • Strong knowledge of interrupts, exceptions, boot sequences, concurrency, synchronization, real-time scheduling, timing analysis, memory-mapped I/O, DMA, cache coherency, memory barriers, linker scripts, startup code, memory layouts, low-power design, and resource-constrained systems.
