Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable streaming player frameworks across web, connected TV, and operator platforms.
- Build shared player capabilities supporting consistent playback, scalability, accessibility, advertising, monetization, and future OTT technologies.
- Make technical decisions around video playback and optimize startup times, performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Design applications, analyze requirements, customize software, and support feature releases and rollouts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and Quality Assurance to integrate solutions and meet technical specifications.
- Track software performance metrics and use data to improve reliability and user satisfaction.
- Document development activities and participate in peer programming, design sprints, and prototyping sessions.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence and collaborative knowledge sharing.
- Work nights, weekends, and variable schedules as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Two to five years of relevant work experience.
- Strong frontend engineering background and proven expertise building video streaming and OTT applications.
- Expertise with HTML5 Video, Media Source Extensions, Encrypted Media Extensions, and Video.js.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies, advertising platforms, video analytics, and modern engineering practices.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, GitHub, and GitLab.
- Comcast may also consider applicants with a combination of coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, collaborate across teams, mentor junior engineers, and support a variable work schedule.
