Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own security integrations and detections across multiple libraries, with .NET and/or Java as the primary focus.
- Take projects from prototype through production deployment, ensuring correctness, operability, maintainability, and safe instrumentation at scale.
- Monitor production telemetry, debug cross-system issues, and reduce customer-facing performance, timeout, and cost problems.
- Shape roadmaps and OKRs, decompose features, and drive technical designs and RFCs to alignment across security library teams.
- Partner with product management, backend, and frontend teams to deliver adopted customer capabilities.
- Mentor teammates, improve code quality and testing, and increase team effectiveness.
- Represent Datadog in relevant language and security communities.
Requirements
- Expertise in at least one of .NET or Java, with the ability to contribute idiomatically across additional languages.
- Strong software-engineering fundamentals and a record of independently shipping modular, maintainable, correct, well-tested, and performant code.
- Product-engineering mindset focused on user experience, customer impact, technical trade-offs, and deciding what to build.
- Experience building and shipping libraries or SDKs consumed by other developers, including packaging, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Experience measuring and optimizing performance and cost across time and space.
- Operational maturity and accountability for software shipped to production.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including driving alignment through RFCs and providing constructive feedback.
- BS, MS, or PhD in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
- Preferred experience with runtime internals and instrumentation, application security, auto-instrumentation, APM or distributed tracing, open-source projects, AI-assisted developer tooling, or developer experience.
