Base Salary

$114k - $213k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and integrate containerized software components for a space mission planning system.
  • Integrate mission planning services with Kafka-based backend data streams for reliability and scalability.
  • Build and maintain cloud-deployed services with monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices that integrate with backend data sources.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, test automation, debugging, and troubleshooting across application, container, and cloud layers.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, DevOps, test, data engineering, and other cross-functional teams in an agile or iterative development environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of development and integration practices.

Requirements

  • Level 3 requires a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of software engineering experience, a master's degree and 3+ years, or a Ph.D. and 1+ years.
  • Level 4 requires a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of software engineering experience, a master's degree and 6+ years, or a Ph.D. and 4+ years.
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance is required at application, with the ability to obtain Special Program Access.
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing Docker or comparable containerized applications for private-cloud deployment.
  • Experience integrating applications with Apache Kafka or other distributed messaging and streaming platforms.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs or microservices, working in Linux environments, and using shell scripting.
  • Experience with build tools such as Maven, Gradle, CMake, or equivalent, and source control such as Git.
  • Understanding of secure coding, authentication, authorization, secrets management, TLS, and basic cloud security concepts.
  • Preferred qualifications include Top Secret/SCI clearance, mission-critical or real-time systems experience, Kafka event-driven architecture, AWS/Azure/GCP or equivalent cloud experience, microservices architecture, Kafka Streams/NATS/ActiveMQ, software design patterns, large-system integration, Sonar/Fortify, unit testing, code coverage, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
