Responsibilities
- Create distributed storage systems customized to HRT’s needs.
- Stay informed about the state of the art and help advance HRT’s storage capabilities.
- Understand research teams’ storage and compute needs and build the next generation of research infrastructure.
- Collaborate with a small team of skilled developers.
Requirements
- Proficient C++ experience is required, with daily use preferred.
- Distributed-systems experience is required, including reasoning about fault tolerance, sharding, trade-offs, and robustness under failure.
- Experience developing databases, distributed filesystems, search infrastructure, or similar systems is ideal but not required.
- Ability to work productively in a Linux environment.
- Knowledge of UNIX operating systems, low-level systems performance issues, and networking.
- Ability to discuss high-level distributed-systems design trade-offs and low-level OS details.
- Strong ownership, prioritization, collaboration, and curiosity.
