Responsibilities
- Design, build, configure, and maintain enterprise Kubernetes infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, primarily using Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Serve as a senior technical resource for Kubernetes platform architecture, infrastructure automation, cluster configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Design resilient and scalable AKS architectures, including private clusters, networking, identity, security, high availability, scaling, backup, recovery, and lifecycle management.
- Automate AKS and supporting Azure infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Bicep, Helm, Kubernetes manifests, and reusable Infrastructure as Code modules.
- Develop and maintain Helm charts, standardized platform configurations, and automated deployment and configuration processes.
- Implement Kubernetes networking, ingress, service discovery, load balancing, Azure connectivity, RBAC, Microsoft Entra ID integration, workload identity, managed identities, and secrets management.
- Integrate AKS with Azure Key Vault, Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Defender for Containers, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Container Insights.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and provide technical guidance.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Significant professional experience designing, deploying, and operating Kubernetes environments and production clusters supporting enterprise workloads.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Kubernetes Service, Terraform, Bicep, Helm, and Kubernetes manifests.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, networking, identity, authentication, authorization, RBAC, storage, and secure cluster configuration.
- Experience with automated infrastructure deployment and Kubernetes deployment automation.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI, or similar tools.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Mandatory certifications: CompTIA Security+, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, and Azure Administrator Associate AZ-104.
- Must possess or be able to obtain an active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Preferred experience includes Azure Government AKS, DoD or regulated environments, private AKS, Azure CNI, Azure Key Vault, workload and managed identities, Azure Policy, Defender for Containers, Flux, Argo CD, Azure Container Registry, OPA Gatekeeper, Kyverno, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana, container image security, supply-chain security, Zero Trust architecture, DoD RMF, NIST SP 800-53, and STIGs.
