Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Build and operate Apache Kafka integrations with producers, consumers, Kafka Streams, Avro schemas, and exactly-once semantics.
- Own data models, query optimization, schema migrations, replication, and connection pooling across PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Support deployment, monitoring, observability, CI/CD, and DevOps tooling on OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Apply OAuth2/OIDC, authentication, authorization, encryption, and other backend security practices.
- Conduct code reviews, uphold engineering standards, mentor junior engineers, and provide technical guidance.
- Create technical documentation for system design, implementation, and API contracts.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Kotlin and strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, including Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data JPA, Spring Cloud, and Spring Actuator.
- Strong Apache Kafka experience, including Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, and exactly-once semantics.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including data modeling, query plans, replication, and HikariCP connection pools.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift and familiarity with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and design patterns.
- Familiarity with OAuth2/OIDC and backend security fundamentals, plus proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices.
- German proficiency at B2+ level and business-proficient English.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
- Experience in banking or fintech, Spring Cloud, distributed tracing, Flyway or Liquibase, and French or Italian is advantageous.
