Base Salary
$144k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive development, testing, documentation, and deployment of scalable backend software into production.
- Lead complex technical initiatives from ideation and architecture through deployment and refinement.
- Define engineering principles, guidelines, best practices, and architectural patterns.
- Partner with product, design, and other stakeholders on high-impact technical decisions.
- Lead incident resolution through the on-call rotation and remediate critical software issues.
- Improve software quality, testability, observability, operational metrics, and documentation.
- Conduct code reviews, guide team planning and design discussions, and remove project roadblocks.
- Mentor and coach engineers at all levels and promote continuous learning.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building highly scalable, performant, and evolvable backend distributed systems.
- Demonstrated ability to drive backend development best practices and mentor engineers in coding and architectural strategies.
- Knowledge of logging, monitoring, tracing, and observability practices for distributed systems.
- Experience driving Agile delivery and process improvements across teams in large enterprise environments.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred: strong experience with Kotlin, Java, and/or Go; Spring, Kafka or Amazon SQS, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
- Preferred: experience in sports, gaming, or content delivery and comfort working across legacy and greenfield codebases.
